Milton Williams Obituary

Milton Adam Williams Charleston - Milton Adam 'Milt' Williams, 79, of Charleston, SC, husband of Marilyn Manning Williams, entered into eternal rest October 11, 2018. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adam Williams are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Columbarium at the church. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 PM, with a 5:45 Rosary, Wednesday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Online condolences may be offered at www.CharlestonFunerals.com. Milt was born December 10, 1938, in Cordele, GA, a son of the late Bernice Long and Robert Clarence Williams. He was a 1956 graduate of Paxon High School in Jacksonville, FL. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Milt was a retired Electrical Salesman for the former Cameron and Barkley, now Hagemeyer. He was an avid sportsman: a runner who completed several half marathons, dedicated softball coach for the Knights of Columbus, Lowcountry Rebels, and several traveling teams, a golf coach for the St. Joseph Boys' Golf team, President of the St. Joseph Athletic Association, and a diehard Florida Gators fan. Milt served as the first President of the Mended Hearts at Roper Hospital, an association that offered support to cardiac patients before and after surgery. An active parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, he served as an altar server for many years. He had many friends, and shared his love of animals with his family. Milt was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Milt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Manning Williams; son, Robert M. Williams (Charlene); daughter, Tara Williams Gerardi (Jeff); 2 sisters, Virginia Kennison of Jacksonville, FL, and Carolyn Suits of St. Augustine, FL; a brother, Frank Williams of Keystone Heights, FL, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to the caregivers at Roper Hospice Cottage of Mt. Pleasant for the loving care you offered Milt in his final days. Flowers are accepted, or Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, the Charleston Animal Society (www.charlestonanimalsociety.org), or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). Arrangements by James A. McAlister, (843) 766-1365. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

My sincere condolences to Milt's family.
It has been years since I last saw Milt but I will always remember his kind words, smile and usually a joke or two. I have fond memories of working with Milt at Cambar. He was always a wonderful mentor with a great personality. Your husband and father impacted those around him in a very positive way.

Deepest regards,

Marilyn,Robbie,Tara
I was so sad to see Milton's obituary today. I remember you Marilyn in our Piggly Wiggly Northbridge all the time and Michael loved Robbie driving the bus he rode on and Tara being in school together. We lost Michael last August age 43 complications from pneumonia life will never be the same. Know you and Milton were together so many years and the last time I spoke with you , you had said he was not doing well. You are a wonderful friend Marilyn, will never forget all our talks for so many years. You and your family are in my prayers as you go through this terrible loss. Life will be changed for all of you from now on but hopefully you will find peace as I have knowing our loved ones are in Heaven and are waiting for our arrival one day. Know that others love you and share in your grief and sorrow. God Bless
Love, Kathy Cox and Family
