Michael Truluck Obituary

Michael Montgomery Truluck MT. PLEASANT - Michael Montgomery Truluck, 88, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Marie Huffman Truluck, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The family will receive friends Friday, June 23, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. A private burial service will be held at a later date in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Michael Montgomery Truluck was born May 25, 1935 in Union, SC, a son of Thomas Dewey Truluck, Sr. and Grace Montgomery Truluck. He graduated Baylor Military Academy in Chattanooga, TN. He attended Clemson College for two years majoring in textiles before transferring to the University of South Carolina majoring in business administration. He was employed by Amerotron Corporation, Barnwell, SC, where he met and married the former Marie Huffman, his wife of 64 years. He was past president of the Barnwell Junior Chamber of Commerce and served as Sunday School superintendent of the Barnwell Presbyterian Church. He moved to Spartanburg, SC, to take over Truluck Insurance and Realty Company as president. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served as chairman of the board of deacons and also served as president of the Piedmont Sertoma Club. He moved to Mount Pleasant, as vice president of C. Douglas Wilson Mortgage Company. He later formed Truluck Builders, Inc. and was involved in residential home building for several years. Mike was a realtor and vice-president of Charleston Home Builders, Assn. He was a member for 45 years of the Sertoma Club of Charleston, past president and twice named Sertoman of the Year and also was named Distinguished District Governor of the Carolina West Region, and president of Hungryneck Investment Club for 31 years. The Truluck family were members of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church for forty-five plus years. Mike served as a member of the Board of Deacons, and was Sunday School Superintendent He held memberships in Snee Farm in Mount Pleasant. After retiring, he and Marie enjoyed boating and fishing and many years of traveling the United States, Europe, and all the Atlantic Provinces of Canada in their motor home. He was a member and vice president of the Maj. Gen. William Moultrie Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution; and a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Huffman Truluck; children, Brian Conrad Truluck (Ruth), Anne Truluck James (Bill), and Lynn Montgomery Truluck; grandchildren, James Kevin Sneed, Jr. (Sara), William St. John James, Ruth Ellen Ashcraft, Wendy Lee Ashcraft, Emily Moessner, Michael Moessner; great-grandchildren Adelyn Carrow, Owen Carrow, Alden Carrow, and Bair Bohler.
