Michael Szoke Obituary

Michael J. Szoke, Sr. GOOSE CREEK - Michael J. Szoke, Sr., 91, of Goose Creek, the husband of Mary Henne Szoke, died Thursday, June 25, 2009. Born January 1, 1918 in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, he was one of fourteen children born to the late Paul and Eve Szoke. Michael was retired from the US Navy, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary, as they were both serving our country. They were residents of West Ashley for over 40 years where he owned and operated an ESSO gas station and was also an auto mechanic. He and Mary moved to the Goose Creek area five years ago and became members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Michael is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Michael J. Szoke, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant and Richard Szoke of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Anna Marie Fowler and her husband Randy of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Lauren and Bryan Fowler and Richard and Lance Szoke and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM with a prayer service beginning at 7PM on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Monday, June 29th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek.
