Melba Watson Obituary

WATSON, Melba GREENVILLE - Melba Ashmore Watson, 87, of 121 Duncan Chapel Road, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Born in Greenville, SC on August 18, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Grady Clinton and Virginia Riddle Ashmore. Mrs. Watson was a member of Berea First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Friendship Group. Preceding her in death was a sister, Lois Caldwell Cagle and a brother, John James Ashmore. Surviving are her husband, of sixty-seven years, Calvin Heyward Watson, of the home; four daughters, Mary Watson Belcher and husband, Devon, Susan Watson Lewis and husband, Don all of Greenville, SC, Marian Watson Graham and husband, Alton of Easley, SC and Linda Watson Hall and husband, Tom of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Lucia Keeler Lathem and Martha Ashmore Holcombe of Greenville, SC and one brother, Grady Clinton Ashmore, Jr. of Prince George, VA. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 2, 2005 at 3:30 PM with Dr. Marshall Sargent officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:30 until 3:30 PM at the mortuary. Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to the National Arthritis Chapter, 1330 West Peachtree Ave., Atlanta, GA 30309. The family will be at 121 Duncan Chapel Rd., Greenville.
