Mayo Burch Obituary

Mayo Starr Burch COLUMBIA - A Memorial Service with military honors will be held for Mayo Starr Burch at the National Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina. Information on the date will be forthcoming. Born September 9, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Burch enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1962. He served three tours of duty on the C130 Combat Talon in Viet Nam. Mr. Burch would later work in the office of Budget and Accounting and retired as Comptroller from Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Burch retired after 27 proud years of service achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Burch moved with his family to Miami, Florida and worked as an accountant for Southeast Frozen Foods. Relocating to Columbia, SC, in 1999 he worked in the same capacity for the Capital Group. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by son, Mayo Starr Burch, Jr., daughter, Kristine Nicole Burch, son, Elijah Gray Burch, and a stepson, Damon Zachariah Slanker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erskine Theological Seminary, Columbia Campus, 1500 Lady Street, Columbia, South Carolina, 29201. Shives Funeral homes is assisting with the arrangements. I worked in the same office with Mayo at Charleston AFB in the 80's. Always considered him a friend and hard worker.
So sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.
