Mary Sweatman Obituary

SWEATMAN, Mary ST. GEORGE - Mary Ethel Jackson Sweatman, 70, of 2621 Wire Road, St. George, SC died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at her residence after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Grover United Methodist Church with the Reverend Katherine H. Bostrom officiating. Burial will follow in the Utsey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME. Pallbearers will be Shaun Jackson, Sid Jackson, Rodney Canaday, Allen Canaday, Charles Spell, Jr., Jeff Sweatman, Kirby Leviner and Timmy Traxler. Ethel was born January 15, 1936 in Grover, SC a daughter of Lyl Verna Shieder Jackson and the late George Francis Jackson. She was married for 52 years to the late Francis Marion Buster Sweatman. She was a retired postmaster for the Grover Post Office and a member of Grover United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the Christian's Worker Class, Treasurer of UMW, Member of the Nurture Committee, and a member of the Administrative Board. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grover Voluntary Rural Fire Department and Trustee of the Utsey Cemetery. Mrs. Sweatman was a former member of the church choir, Pastor Parish Committee, and former president of the UMW. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, George William Billy Jackson and James M. (Donald) Jackson. Surviving are her mother, Lyl Verna S. Jackson, a daughter Sharon (Mike) Milligan, St. George; four grandchildren, Matthew R. Milligan, Ryan W. (Michelle) Westbury and Kimberly W. (Ryan) Chavis, all of St. George and Jennifer (George) Lee of Summerville; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Chavis, St. George and Emily and George Lee of Summerville and a brother, David A. Jackson, of St. George.
