Mary Ann and Robert P. Aitken SUMMERVILLE - Mary Ann Aitken, 73, and her husband Dr. Robert P. Aitken, 69 of Summerville, both passed away at Trident Medical Center. A Memorial Mass will be held for Mary Ann and Robert on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 9 o'clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter St., Summerville, SC. Inurnment will follow at 12 o'clock at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Patriot Paws Service Dogs, 254 Ranch Trail, Rockwall, TX 75032. Mary Ann was born on December 6, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, daughter of the late Helen and Albert Rinaldo. Robert was born on July 7, 1948 in Savannah, GA, son of the late Robert and Ruth Aitken. They both retired from the US Navy where Mary Ann worked as a nurse practitioner and Robert worked as an eye doctor. They were Vietnam and Desert Storm Veterans. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic church and loved volunteering with the Humane Society. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and a board member of the American Optometric Association. Survivors include: two daughters: Christi Hartsock (Christopher) of Salem, SC and Rebekah Aitken of James Island; Mary Ann's brother: Albert Rinaldo of Perris, CA; Mary Ann's sister: Kathleen Bertulli (Rich) of Winthrop, MA; Robert's two brothers: Ken Aitken (Jan) of Texas and Walter Aitken (Frances) of Louisiana.
