Rosamond Blackwell
Summerville - Rosamond Blackwell, 93, of Summerville, SC, widow of the late Gerald "Gerry" Blackwell, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Graveside Services were held Monday afternoon, March 9, 2026 at 2 o'clock in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at Parks Funeral Home.
Rosamond was born August 18, 1932 in Hartsville, SC, daughter of the late Harry M. Newsom and Mildred Natalie Pate Newsom. After high school, she earned a Bachelor's Degree from Winthrop University. Before becoming a homemaker, she was a primary educator at Pinewood Preparatory School, where she taught for 27 years. She loved reading, woodworking and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and playing bridge.
Survivors include her son, Brad Blackwell (Lona) of Summerville, SC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a son, Mickey G. Blackwell; three sisters, Sarah N. King, Ginger N. White, and Miriam N. Carter; and her brother, Johnny Newsom.
