Laura Trussell Obituary

Laura Mae Trussell, known to most as "Memaw," of North Charleston, South Carolina, was born on July 6, 1946, and passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 12, 2026.

Laura was a loving and caring woman who lived her life to the fullest and had many adventures to share. She spent her life taking care of everyone around her, including many children who lovingly considered her their grandmother. She touched the lives and hearts of everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Wayne Trussell, and her grandsons, Frankie Dewayne Trussell and Darrell Eugene Slape.

Laura is survived by her three children: Christopher Mark Trussell (Tammy Trussell), Michelle Renee Thompson (Kenneth Thompson), and Steven Dewayne Trussell. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher Mark Gregory Trussell (Mindy Braden), Chelsea Ann Rainwater (Harley Rainwater), and Meagan Renee Catchings.

Laura was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to honorably mention Laura's best friend of over 60 years, Gloria Erwin, as well as the late Carl Jamison "Pops", who loved and raised her children and grandchildren as his own.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life.
