Marjorie Anne Maloney "Marge" Bennett

Marjorie Bennett Obituary

Marjorie Anne "Marge" Maloney Bennett BRICK, NJ - Marjorie Anne "Marge" Maloney Bennett, 84, of Brick, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday evening at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. A true matriarch and established seamstress, Marge was a loving mother and grandmother who was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family - particularly her grandchildren. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed cooking, playing cards and bowling, and had an infectious laugh that belied the grace and charm that this true Southern lady exemplified every day. Marge, originally from Charleston, SC, met her husband John A. "Jack" Bennett, Jr., a cadet at The Citadel, while working at a local credit bureau. They were married in 1948 and moved to Newark, NJ, where he began his 39-year career at NBC. In 1951, they moved to Spring Lake Heights, where Marge lived until 2006, to raise their family. Marge's strength and memory live on through her surviving family, including her three brothers, Al Maloney, David Maloney, and Robert Maloney; three children, John A. "Jack" Bennett, III and his wife Jan of Brick, NJ, Margaret Bennett Roselli and her husband Frederick, of South River, NJ, and Michael Bennett and his wife Deborah, of Jackson, NJ; her son-in-law Jack Ely of Wall, NJ; twelve grandchildren ranging in ages between 14 and 37 years old; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; her daughter, Kathleen Bennett Ely; two sisters, Dorothy "Dossie" Ostapeck and Sister Margareta Maloney; and two brothers, Joseph Maloney and Gus Maloney. Visiting will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday 11am at St. Catharine's RC Church in Spring Lake. Burial will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery in Sea Girt.
