To the Slotin Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Mrs. Slotin's passing. From my 25 plus years on King St., it was always a pleasure to see her. Mrs. Slotin was true lady in every sense of the word and respected by many in our community. I especially admired her love for her family. She will truly be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Phil, Andy, and family.

To the Slotin Family,
We can't express to you how sorry we are to hear of Marian's passing.
Our biggest regret is that there are so many miles between us at this time that we can't be there to put our arms around you. Phil, after knowing you only a few hours, you fast became our first friend in Charleston. After meeting Marian, Andy, Tracie, George,Izzy, Travis and Blake, you soon became the first FAMILY we had there. We love you all so much and are thinking about you and praying for you all. We will see you all soon- Birlant's will always be our first and most important visit when we come to our second home.
All our love,
David, LeeAnn, Emily and Michael Stern

I am so sorry for your loss. I work on King street and used to see Mrs. Slotin in the mornings as I walked to work. She always had a smile on her face and said hello to me as she got out of the station wagon and unlocked the store. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so saddened by this turn of events. My heart goes out to Uncle Phil, David and Andy. Aunt Marian, you were the ambassador of unconditional love. You always showed so much happiness and joy when you saw me. You would have thought we were relatives. Well, maybe being my mother's childhood friend is kin to being a relative! Perhaps you are now the angel who blesses little children with wonderful birthday parties with ponies and carousels and showers them with gifts of smocked dresses and dolls. You live on in my heart!

Working for the Birlants family has been a blessing for me and my family. Knowing Mrs. Marion Slotin was truly an honor, and a blessing. During my time I spent with her I learned a lot about different characters in the business world. Knowing Mrs. Slotin I must say it was truly enlightening to me. She always kept me on my P&Q's. I know she is in a better place smiling down on us saying everythings ok.
We send much love and blessings from our family to yours.

Phil, Andy and David,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Marian. It’s so hard to lose a wife and parent. We hope you’ll carry loving memories of her in your heart always.
Not a day goes by when we don’t think of Debbie's Dad and Dan's parents and all the great things they did and lessons they taught us. We really think our parents live on in us.
Only time moves on to the next scene. Memory remains part of the heart forever.
All our love and support,
Riette and Bob Boxer

Dear Phil, David, and Andy,
I feel like it's the passing of a generation. It'll be strange coming to town and knowing "Aunt" Marian won't be there to visit. She was like a second mother to me and always treated me like a son. She loved all the Kurtzmans and adopted us as her own. All the Thanksgivings together, Sunday school, the beach house at Sullivans Island, the visits to the store with Ann, Chelsea, and Roxy...all these memories come flooding back. May we be comforted by all our happy memories. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know Marian is up there gossiping with Mom and Dad and George and Lillian. Heaven is a richer place. Love to you all.

As a teenager, I began to attend the famous Birlant auctions, and continued to do so for many years. It wasn't long before Mrs. Slotin began to greet me personally, both in and out of the shop. She was such a beautiful person, a true lady. Charleston will be a lesser place without her. I send my heart felt regrets.

Oh my gosh I am in shock.
She was so young!
Her sunshine will be so deeply missed. I know only memories of her smile and the warm friendship I have shared with her son David for so many years...the trips to Charleston from college for the weekend, the dinners around their family table, the brass bed I bought from the lovely Birlant's where she reigned like the Queen she still is. Oh, I am in shock. I can't call this late but David, if you read this tonite, please feel this hug from all of us in Florida who are with you now and love you all so much. May God's grace take you through this terrible time but may He also allow you to soon find peace as you just remember her Glory, her smile...laugh and bold expression as she lead her life for others...Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this time of grief.
I love you all, Margi
