Maggie Padgett Obituary

PADGETT, Maggie HAMPTON - Mrs. Maggie Ruth Tuten Padgett, 72, of 2706 Sandy Run Road, Hampton, died Monday afternoon, July 16, 2007, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She was married for fifty-one years to the late Mr. James Archie Padgett, Sr. Funeral services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday morning, July 19, 2007, from Varnville First Baptist Church with The Reverend Dr. Tommy Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Crocketville Cemetery. Mrs. Padgett was born November 7, 1934, in Jasper County, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late John Gary Tuten and the late Katie Lou Darieng Tuten. She was a retired cosmetologist in the Hampton area and was a member of the Varnville First Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and lifelong member of Crocketville Chapter No. 204, Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Worth Matron. Surviving are: a son, James A. Padgett Jr. and his wife Becky of Barnwell; three daughters, Kathy P. Bishop and her husband Allen of Ruffin, Roxane P. Curtin and her husband Mark of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Debra Padgett of Columbia; a brother, Randall Tuten of Melbourne, Florida; and two sisters, Dorothy Malphus of Ridgeland and Sadie White of Bluffton. There are seven grandchildren, April Moss, Gabrielle P. Davis, Christian D. Curtin, Ashley Bishop, Stephanie Padgett, Brittany Padgett, and Catherine Padgett; as well as three great grandchildren, Bailey Fairbanks, James Moss, and Gavin Davis that also survives. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Gary Tuten, Jr. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Varnville First Baptist Church, for use with the Memorial Fund, Post Office Box 306, Varnville, SC 29944.
