Rachel Essery (nee Hutton)

Dear Martine, George, Will, Claire and Family:
Our deepest sympathies for your loss, I came across the sad news about Madeline whilst looking to contact you about Graham Hutton (Fredrick's brother) who sadly also passed away last week. My mother still talks most fondly of the time she spent in her youth with Madeline and the fun they had together.
It would be good to be in contact after all these years.
Kindest regards and sympathies.

Martine and Nicki and families....We are so sorry to hear of your mum's passing. I first met your mum back when i was 14 ...I thought she was the funniest most clever full of joie de vivre person i had ever met...She was always so sweet and kind and funny and definitely had a special place in my heart throughout the years.. It was always wonderful to hear from Martine or even Madeline herself about all the adventures she had travelling the globe...,...A life well lived, and I am so happy to have known her...

Grandma will be very missed. I treasure the holidays had at her and Grandpa's home in Richmond. Pouring over books about sharks, examining collected artifacts from world travels, and playing online using Prodigy will always remind me of times with family. I remember finches and cats, their love for the later passed down generations. Only later did I learn about our family's interlaced history with war and medicine, which now I can say certainly had an impact on me. I recall the poignant moments going through her father's World War 1 journal that he had written when he was the same age as I was. I am still proud of her being so emblematic as a powerful woman during one of the most challenging times in human history. I am also proud of her life's success, and I am forever thankful for giving me such an incredible mother. The best parts of me are Hutton. I recall her telling me it was a "human flaw" that we always remember the best in people, and it makes our own lives better. In her later years, based on the way she spoke of death so comfortably even while we squirmed at the morbidity, I know she was not afraid. She was content. As I write this final sentence while standing duty on a military base in the desert, I hear taps playing, and I know she is happy.

Dear Martine, George, Will, Claire and Family:
Love and Hugs to all of you during this most difficult time. I personally will always remember Madeline for her vivacious spirit, sense of humor, and lovely smile - not to mention her beautiful British accent. It was always a joy to be in her presence. I know my parents feel the same way about her, and so too enjoyed her company.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Kibbie and Family
