In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To the James/Maxwell Families: I never met Mrs. Mable, but somehow, I could always detect the great love and devotion that her son, William, had for her; he, having been molded through her handiwork, must surely be a reflection and extension of her - as I am sure all of her children are. We are made in God's image-likeness; God is eternal, changeless and unchanging, and the Source of all Good. Just know that she has transitioned from her human form to Spirit, where her ultimate good lies. The soul of man never dies, it goes back to God when it has no further need to express through its ego in human form. She is now "free and unlimited, with no chains to bind her, in all Glory of the soul in its merging with the Holy Spirit. I pray with you during your period of adjustment.

To the Maxwell Family:
It is with great saddness that I send this to you. As a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church I have always been inspired by Minister Maxwell's firm hold onto Jesus as her savior. Many times she has sung a song, witnessed to the goodness of God and how God has been so good to her and her family. I can remember on Sundays, in the pulpit when she would break out into a holy dance, all you could do was to imagine that Jesus was her partner.

We will continue to keep you in prayer that God will keep you in his perfect care.

We will truly miss her, but we will remember her faithfullness and love for God, her church and her family.

To the Maxwell and James Family,

My daughters and I have never met Mrs. Maxwell, but we know of her through her son Mr. Louis James. I am a business associate of Mr. James, and naturally he spoke very highly of her and called Mrs. Maxwell his "little white-haired mother." We are certain she was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by her family, friends and the Charleston community. Louis, you and your family have our sincerest condolences.

To the James Family:

You have our deepest sympathy. The passing of Ms. Mable is a loss felt by the entire Accabee Community. My brothers and I grew up just across the street from you, and Ms. Mable was a mother to all the children in the neighborhood.

She understood the meaning of, “it takes a village to raise a child.” She was there with advice, support, encouragement and a very strong hand of discipline. She has always been a dear and devoted friend to my mother, and for this I am grateful.

As a respected pillow of the Accabee Community, Ms. Mable will be missed. Our hearts are with you at this most difficult time. Please take comfort in knowing that Our Father is a kind and loving God who makes no mistakes, but knew it was time to bring his child home to rest and be with him.

Our sincere prayers are with you all. We pray that God’s sustaining Grace be your comfort and keeper? Your friends always
