Mabel Stewart MacKellar Cain MT. PLEASANT - Mabel Stewart MacKellar Cain, wife of Francis Gendron Cain, Jr., affectionately known as Mickey to family and friends, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Born September 14, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of William Alan and Mary Stewart Speers MacKellar. In addition to her husband, Mickey is survived by her sister, Doris M. Gressitt of Battleground, Washington, a nephew, Dr. Stevan Gressitt, of Unity, Maine and a niece, Alexandra S. Gressitt of Leesburg, Virginia. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. William H. Cain and his wife, Julia, of Charleston, South Carolina. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church and the Ladies' Benevolent Society. After graduating from Lower Merion High in Ardmoor, PA, she was employed by a securities dealer. A skilled equestrienne, Mickey's particular pleasure was riding her favorite horse, Romely Rose, in Fairmont Park. In 1946 the MacKellar family moved to Charleston where she met her future husband. Mickey and Frank were married for sixty years, during which time they enjoyed numerous trips to Italy and France and the UK where they visited members of her family in Scotland. For several years, Mickey taught horseback riding lessons to children and was also a Brownie troop leader at St. Philip's Church. She was employed as a licensed security sales agent in the office of Robinson Humphrey, American Express from 1965 to 1984. After her retirement she enjoyed working as a professional photographer. Graveside services will be conducted at St. Philip's Episcopal Churchyard Thursday, May 14, 2009 at two o'clock. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials may be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. Arrangements by J.
