Lois Wellman Obituary

Lois Owen Wellman Charleston - Lois Owen Wellman passed away on June 30, 2022. She was the daughter of William A. Owen and Catherine Freeman Owen. Lois was born on February 17, 1933 and was in the last graduating class of Memminger High School. She attended Lenoir Ryne College and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a degree in Medical Technology at a time when few women were working in the field. Lois retired from the Charleston Naval Hospital after many years of faithful service and was an active member of Citadel Square Baptist Church, where she was affectionately named CEO. Like her mother, she was fiercely independent with a quick wit. Her retirement years were full of laughter with her family and friends. She was a true "best friend." Lois is survived by her two daughters, Laura Wellman Eberhardt and Stacey Wellman Denaux (Darrell) as well as two grandchildren, Owen Thomas Eberhardt (Shannon) and Catherine Grace Denaux. Her Funeral Service service will be held at the graveside, Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 10:30 AM. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by James A. McAlister, Inc. (843) 766-1365. I worked with Lois for many years at Roper labs. A sweet dear friend and so much fun on our 'girls trips' to the mountains.
God has surely called a special angel home.

Lois was like a second mother to me and a wonderful, wise and witty friend to my mother. She was one of the `Magnificent Seven“ who loved going to lunch, laughing, sharing good times and supporting each other through bad times for many decades. I will miss her so much.
