TO THE SHULER FAMILY:
IT SEEMS THAT WE HAVE KNOWN MR. SHULER FOR A LIFETIME. HE WAS THE PRINCIPAL AT JAMESTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHEN I STARTED IN KINDERGARTEN AND WHEN I LEFT IN 8TH GRADE AND CONTINUED AFTERWARD UNTIL THE SCHOOL CLOSED. HE ALWAYS STRIVED TO GET TO KNOW OUR FAMILIES PERSONALLY AND NOT ONLY WAS HE A PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER BUT A MENTOR ALSO, WHO BECAME A PART OF OUR FAMILIES AND AN ICON IN THE COMMUNITY, WHO WAS REVERED AND DEEPLY RESPECTED. HE WAS KIND, QUIET AND MILD. NEVER HEARD HIM RAISE HIS VOICE, BUT HE COULD RENDER DISCIPLINE WHEN NEEDED. WE DID NOT PLAY WITH "FESS" AS HE WAS FONDLY NICK NAMED BY THE STUDENTS. HE WAS ALWAYS INTERESTED IN KNOWING WHAT KIND OF ADULTS THEIR STUDENTS BECAME, BECAUSE THEY CLOSELY MENTORED US AND NURTURED US EDUCATIONALLY UNTIL WE LEFT THEM AND WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL. THANK YOU MR. SHULER AND ALSO A THANK YOU TO THE MEMORY OF MRS. SHULER FOR YOUR LOVE AND CARE. THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF YOU BOTH WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND IN OUR HEARTS.
MAY JEHOVAH BLESS YOU THE SHULER EXTENDED FAMILY AND HELP YOU TO CONTINUE TO BE STRONG IN YOUR LOSS,OUR LOSS AND THE COMMUNITY LOSS.

To Carol, Jackie and the Shuler extended Family:
I was saddend when I heard of the loss of your father. My heart goes out to you all. Mr. Shuler has not only impacted my life, but he has touched the lives of many. He had a sweet, kind and gentle spirit. When we were in school, we thought he was very hard on us, but now we know that wasn't the case it was that he cared for us and wanted to see us excel in education and in life. For that, I just want to say thanks to the both of you for him. Even though I will not be there for you physically , I will be with you in spirit and prayer. We will miss him.
May God bless and keep you all during this time and always.
With love and sympathy,
Debra Washington-McCrary-Class of "78"

I was a student in the 1988 graduating class of Macedonia High School and Mr. Shuler was among one of my favorite personalities there. I enjoyed his quiet sense of humor. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family.
Sincerely,
