Lavada Harris Obituary

HARRIS, Lavada Lavada G. Harris, 74, passed peacefully into the next stage of her life on June 1, 2007. Mrs. Harris was a resident of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, having moved there on June 1, 2005 after spending 41 years as a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on August 10, 1932 in Kentucky. She retired as an R.N. in 1956 to be a full time wife and mother. In addition to those roles, she was an artist, a poet, linguist, gardener, hiker, world traveler, bird watcher, dancer, chef, punster and baker extraordinaire. Mrs. Harris was proceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert W. Harris, M.D., who was a partner in the Knoxville Anesthesia Group. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Page Harris and Bob Pavlechko, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Harris and Mary Jo Lane, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and by her son, Stuart G. Harris of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is also survived by a sister, Sandra G. Graper of Danville, Indiana. A celebration of Mrs. Harris' life will be held later this year. She requested that memorials be made to Mepkin Abbey Botanical Garden, 1098 Mepkin Abbey Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
