Laurence Ladue Obituary

Laurence Knight Ladue III CHARLESTON - Laurence Knight Ladue III, 60, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 25, 2023. His Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at St. Philip's Church, 142 Church St., Charleston. The Burial will follow at Stokes Cemetery, Hendersonville, SC. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Monday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Larry was born in Charleston, SC on January 21, 1963, a son of Laurence Knight Ladue, Jr. and Angelyn McGill Ladue. He was a graduate of Christchurch School and Appalachian State University. Larry was a lifelong Republican who worked for the George H.W. Bush presidential campaign and South Carolina Governor Caroll Campbell in the grant department. After working in the governor's office, he pursued a career in medical sales for Physician's Sales Service. He went on to work for Depuy Synthes as a medical sales consultant for long bone orthopedic trauma for over 20 years. He was passionate about his work in the orthopedic community. Always a sports lover, once he retired I-26 mirrored a NASCAR track on the way to any Gamecocks game for Larry. First love was Gamecocks football, in the box of course and courtside basketball where he felt he could be heard, but the Atlanta Braves held a special place in his heart. Larry was a larger than life personality, with a sense of humor that borderlined professional and could tell a story like none other. He loved those close to him greatly and believed friendship was a gift to be treasured. Larry was an honest, kind, trustworthy man who valued integrity. He surrounded himself with people who he respected and adored. The NC mountains calmed his soul, his dogs warmed his heart and spending time with those he cared about completed his world. If you were one of these people, know you're special. Larry is survived by his love, Karen Anne Stephenson; his brother, William Jaycocks Ladue; his sister, Evelyn Ladue Wells as well as his nieces and nephews, William Rawlins Lowndes Ladue, Mary Evelyn Lowndes Wells, Anne Emmaline Ladue and Dohrman Hampton Preston Wells. Larry is predeceased by his parents and his niece, Catherine Lane Ladue. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saluda Community Land Trust, Inc. (www.saludaclt.org/donate), P.O. Box 732, Saluda, NC 28773 or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by James A. McAlister, Inc. (843) 766-1365. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Larry was warm, kind and generous to all who may have been lucky enough to know him. I worked many years with the MUSC Ortho Dept. A brilliant, hard working, group of professionals whose long days in the OR were made a little brighter when Larry would provide not only the vast amount of ortho implants, but endless charm and smiles for us all. Topped off with great lunches for all staff members! We appreciated his wit and humor, and above all the genuine soul of this man who adored life, family and his friends. Rest in peace “Huggable Larry”. Those bear hugs will be missed by so many. Blessings to your family and loved ones.

They dont make them like Larry anymore. We got close as he began to build a home in Saluda. Touching base every few weeks, fixing the worlds problems by the end of every call. We were due to talk politics and have a beer there. He never made it. But I am sure he will be there. Thunderstorm, big loud clap, hard rain, followed by shimmering sun, yep that will tell me he made it. You lucky rascal, you lived more than most lived in 5 lifetimes. Godspeed brother, One of kind.

Larry and I became good friends when he joined PSS and continued our friendship for many years as our paths would cross regularly during our medical sales careers. The laughs and memories will always remain vivid. Larry you were the best !

Larry wore the very definition of a wry smile for most of the years that I knew him, and I can therefore think of him in no other way. I will miss his charm and wit, and the best barbecue sauce I may have ever had. Peace be with his family and friends at this time

I had the honor of taking care of Larry´s dogs for many years. He loved them like children and was broken -hearted when they died of old age. I know God has welcomed a soul like Larry´s, and I bet he´s telling God a thing or two about politics, or telling God a joke because who worries about politics in Heaven? God Bless my dog friend Larry!

Every memory I have w LKL 111
makes me laugh and smile. In the last few days those memories have brought tears for a friend gone to soon. Larry took me under his wing when I joined Synthes and from work evolved a twenty plus year friendship. The stories are many and mostly the truth. I will miss him.

Larry, was my dear cousin. He taught me/us the fun way to create benign mischief as children and as young adults, and was ready with a smile or a hug when needed. Rest in Peace "Larreee".

Larry was a bright light and the life of many events, he could make a room shine. His humor, his honor and his handsome face were so southern, and yet unique. This world will be a little less fun, and heaven a little more fun. He will be missed by many. Much love, Leighleigh
