Joseph Rabon Obituary

Joseph E. Rabon GOOSE CREEK- Joseph E. Rabon was born on August 01, 1930, in Columbia, South Carolina. He passed away on January 29, 2024, at the age of 93. He was the son of the late Katherine Johnson Rabon and Troy Lee Rabon. He was a graduate of Chicora High School. He entered the United States Air Force in 1951 and served until 1955. He was then employed by the United States Air Force at the Charleston Air Force Base and retired as a Jet Engine Test Forman with 37 years of service. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 40 years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of the 115th Airlift Squad Alumni Association, the Stono Golf Club, Santee Super Seniors and Lake Marion Seniors Golf Club. Mr. Rabon was also active in the youth baseball program in North Charleston as a Coach and as Commissioner in the 1950's. Later, after retirement, he was active in the Ladson Baseball program. He was also an avid outdoorsman and wood craftsman. Mr. Rabon is survived by his loving wife, Cecile Geraldine "Gerry" Rabon; his children: Joseph "Jody" E. Rabon, Jr., Stephanie Rabon Grantham (Woody), Mary Rabon Carter (Magnus), Lance Joseph Rabon, Susan Theobald Ruffy (Brad), and Kathryn Theobald Risher (Douglas). His sister, Frances Johnston. His grandchildren: Matthew, Carolina, Julia, Elizabeth Jean, and Jessica, Christopher, Daniel, Taylor, Emily, Madeline, Allison, Lauren, Kyle, and Kristy. Also many great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rabon is preceded in death by his brother, Troy Lee Rabon; his sister, Mary Katherine Rabon; Nephews, Kenneth & Steven Johnston; and step-sons, Steve & Wayne Theobald. The family of Mr. Rabon will receive guests at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406 on February 3, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A Funeral Serve will follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Carolina Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM.
