Joseph Chaplin Obituary

CHAPLIN, JR., Joseph Entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 2, 2008, Joseph O. Chaplin, Jr., husband of Emily Arndt Chaplin. Resident of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph O. Chaplin, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in Martin Luther Lutheran Church Friday, November 5, 2008 at one o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Thursday between five and seven o'clock. Mr. Chaplin was born August 12, 1926 in Ravenel, SC, the son of Joseph O. Chaplin and Lottie Newton Chaplin. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and Korea. He was a life member and Past Master of the Fidelity Lodge #304, Scottish Rite, American Legion Post #147, Omar Shrine and he was an avid deer hunter. Mr. Chaplin retired from The Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Marine Machinist General Forman II. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Cheryl C. Mullis and her husband Ed of Charleston, SC and Cindy C. Salvo and her husband Paul of Ravenel, SC; two sons, J. Wayne Chaplin and his wife Alice and Mike Chaplin, all of Ravenel, SC; three brothers, Calvin C. Chaplin of Jacksonville, FL, Jackie Chaplin of Summerville, SC and Jim Chaplin of Ravenel, SC; three sisters, Molly C. Braddock of Ravenel, SC, Eileen C. Boynton of North Augusta, SC and Betty C. Chivers of Summerville, SC; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Victory Veteran's House, 2461 Sidneys Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
