Jonathan Rosa Obituary

Jonathan "Jon" Michael Rosa Mt. Pleasant - Jonathan "Jon" Michael Rosa, 46, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Elisha Brandt Rosa, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 18, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 in The Citadel's Summerall Chapel at 1:30 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel. Jon was born May 15, 1976 in Conway, South Carolina, son of Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa, Jr. (ret) and Donna Kangeter Rosa. Jonathan was a 1998 graduate of Florida State University and went on to earn his Master's degree from FSU in 2000. He began his career in sales at Sears Home Improvements in Charlotte, North Carolina, and in 2011 moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he and Elisha opened Rhino Shield by Palmetto Ceramic Coatings and later became the owners of East Bay Wine & Spirits. Jon had a love of sports, coaching his sons and avidly following them as they played, a love of the Florida State Seminoles and Miami Dolphins, but most remarkable was his love of life and family, especially for his wife and his two sons. Jon had an innate way to make everyone laugh and was the life of every party, making friends with everyone he met and living life to the fullest. He had a smile that could light up a room. Jon never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. To know Jon was to love him, and everyone did. In addition to his wife and parents, Jon is survived by his children, Mikey Rosa and Matt Rosa; his best friend and brother, Brad (and his wife, Jonnel) Rosa; nephew, Cameron Rosa and niece, Landon Rosa. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made in Jon's honor to a trust through Beacon Community Bank, 578 East Bay Street Suite D., Charleston, SC 29403 for his sons, Mikey and Matt Rosa. We are sad and stunned to hear about Jon. We don´t usually have a relationship with people passing through, doing work on our house. Jon was different. He was in touch well after the job was done and we had occasionally seen him here and there. It was when I tried to contact him at Rhinoshield that I found out about the accident. Looking at the calendar, I realized we had been out of town.
He spoke lovingly about you and the boys. Your loss is profound and our condolences don´t make it less. We hope family and friends will give you support, strength and comfort.

Donna and John,
I have written this note a thousand times in my mind and somehow it has never gotten to you. Ed and I send our love and heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your son, Jon. Losing a young person before his time is the hardest to bear. I lost both of my brothers in their 40's and I miss them every day.
We have thought of you and wished we had your address so we could contact you.
Please know that we are holding you up in prayer as you navigate this unfamiliar time in your lives. We also pray for his young family in the loss of a husband and father. May God's grace and peace be with you all in the days ahead.
Much love,
Ed and Becky Riggs (843-870-3773)

Elisha-
I have been so sad all week. Your family means the world to me. Your boys are treasures and that is a direct result of you Elisha and John´s love for each other. I wish I could take away your pain and sadness. All I can promise you is that I will keep you in my heart and in my prayers.

General Rosa and DK (Pops and Bamma)-
I have always loved and admired you both. Teaching your grandsons was the greatest blessing. They are wonderful boys because of the values you both instilled in their father. I am so incredibly sorry. I will keep you both in my prayers. Always in my heart!

I regret that I will be out if town this weekend, but your families will be in my heart.

So grateful that I had the opportunity to meet Jon at FSU in the fall of 1996. Wasn't a day that went by that I did not spend time with my best friends while in college. Our circle was tight, and it was all because of Jon. His unique ability to make everyone feel like they fit in, and welcome was undeniable, and I'm sure he had many circles, just like the one we shared. Jon was so good at maintaining communication through the years. Thank you, Rosa family for raising such a wonderful person, and for making me feel like I am always welcome. God Bless you, John and Donna, Brad, Elisha, MIkey and Matt. With Love, Rusty and Janna Stevens

Our hearts are broken and our prayers are with you as you walk this dark valley. I remember Jon as an infant and toddler ... even then he would light up a room with his smile and evoke huge smiles from everyone in the room when he laughed. He stole a space in my heart lo those many years ago and he will always be in that space. Our hearts ache for his family but we celebrate his life and believe that he "got where he was going" just a little ahead of the rest of us and we will see him again when we "get there". We are praying for all of you to be filled with God's peace that is beyond understanding. We love all of you.

My sincere condolences. I am shocked and saddened by the news of Jon's death. I just heard from him on Friday. He was suppose to be at my house today to do some work. He came to give me an estimate (I had received 7) about 6 weeks ago. He was so professional, personable, had a infectious smile and lit up when spoke about his family and boys. He shared with me about how he was looking forward to a trip with his boys soon. His personality alone won me over. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him. May God wrap his loving arms around you all and comfort you at this extremely difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am so sorry.
