John McRoy Obituary

MCROY, John John Edward McRoy, Sr., 71, husband of Wanda Taylor McRoy, of Summerville, SC died Friday, March 23, 2007 in Charleston. Funeral services will be held in Parks Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2007, at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Ave., Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405. Mr. McRoy was born July 15, 1935 in Sumter, SC, a son of Bootie McRoy and Mary Jane Butler McRoy. He was a project manager at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post #147 and Stallsville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Wanda T. McRoy; sons, John E. McRoy, Jr., and Patrick T. McRoy and his wife, Stacey, all of Summerville, Ross A. McRoy and his wife, April of Fitzgerald, GA; brothers, James E. McRoy and his wife, Gayle and Carl W. McRoy and his wife, Nancy all of Manning, SC; sisters, Loretta M. Disher and her husband, Billy and Dorothy M. Carter and her husband, Joe Henry, all of Manning, SC; two grandchildren, Ashleigh McRoy and Gavin McRoy.
