John W. McLeod Summerville - John W. McLeod, 81, of Summerville, husband of Lillian B. McLeod, passed away peacefully of end stage Parkinson's Disease on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Summerville. He will be remembered as a kind and loving Christian man who always had a smile on his face. He brought joy to so many people around him. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 8 at 11 o'clock at Summerville Baptist Church 417 Central Ave., Summerville, SC 29483. Social distancing and masks are required. A private burial will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, www.giving.ncsservices.org/App/Giving/summervillebaptist. John was born and raised in Bishopville, SC and attended Ashewood Central High School. John served seven years in the Army National Guard of South Carolina. John married his wife, Lillian, and then moved to Irmo, SC. They have one daughter, Laura McLeod. John owned his own car repair business for several years, and later worked in car sales. John and Lillian, along with daughter, Laura, have lived in Summerville for many years and are members of Summerville Baptist Church. John retired from his sales job at McElveen of 20 years. Survivors including his wife of 59 years are: daughter: Laura McLeod of Summerville; three sisters: Joyce Josey of Bishopville, Caroline Peeples of Johnson City, TN, and Doris Tetreault of Bishopville; brother: Eldridge McLeod of Bishopville; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: Ethel Beasley McLeod and Harry McLeod and one brother: Russell McLeod The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of our amazing Roper Hospice Team, the entire staff at the Village of Summerville, as well as all of the home caregivers that helped us along the way. We are forever grateful for the compassionate, loving care John has received during his last stage of Parkinson's. We are so thankful for all of the prayers and support from our SBC family.
