My condolences to John's family. John had a colorful personality and quite the sense of humor. I know it must be hard to lose him so suddenly, but I have never met a man who wanted to be closer to God than John. Now he is. Have a great journey John.

I played rugby with John in the early '70s at the University of South Carolina. We were damn good friends. Haven't seen him in 40 years. Hate to hear of his passing. Thoughts and prayers to his family. I'm from James Island and he was a Mt. Pleasant, Moultrie HS, guy. We had some great times. I remember EXACTLY the way he looked in our garnet rugby jerseys with black pants and cleats on the field next to the PE Center and in games. We played at Clemson, Georgia, Charleston and other places. I remember him swirling beer and singing those great old rugby songs after the games. Wish I could attend his funeral. Will certainly be thinking about him. God bless y'all, and John, up there looking down on us all, smiling.

I am the luckiest guy alive, I knew John for over 60 years. He was always fun spirited and could find fun when there wasn't any to find. He knew just about everyone and everyone he knew was a friend. He was the best brother a guy could have, I will dearly miss him! Gary B. Gallagher
