John Ford Obituary


FORD, SR., John The relatives and friends of Mr. John A. Ford, Sr., are invited to attend his funeral services on Saturday, January 27, 2007, 12:00 noon at Wallingford Presbyterian Church, USA 705 King Street, Charleston, SC. Interment: Parker Cemetery, Johns Island, SC. Mr. Ford is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Esther Jackson Ford; his children, Mr. John A. Ford, Jr. (Rita), Ms. Joyce J. Scott, and Ms. Sharron Fontenot; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Mr. Jerry C. Ford, Ms. Julia Williamson, and Ms. Ida Ford; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ms. Virginia Jenkins, Ms. Lucille Grant, Ms. Emily Lord, Ms. Mary Jackson, Ms. Martha Alston, Ms. Cynthia Jackson, Ms. Mary Jackson, Ms. Bernetha Jenkins, Ms. Josephine Jackson, Ms. Liz Ford, Ms. Albertha Freeman Ford, and Ms. Isadora Ford, and Ms. Dorothy Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Ford was the founder of "John Ford and the Southern Dukes" during the 50's. He also founded the "Ace of Souls and Soul Aces." Viewing for Mr. Ford will be Friday, January 26, 2007, from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the William Smith Memorial Chapel, Charleston, SC, and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. The family will be receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Viewing will also be at the church on Saturday morning, 10 a.m., until funeral service.
