Joanne Hampton-Lawson Obituary

Joanne Hampton - Lawson N. CHARLESTON - Joanne Hampton-Lawson, born January 13, 1944, of North Charleston, South Carolinam entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2024. She is the baby of four siblings born to the late Beatrice Simmons and William Simmons. Joanne was preceded in death by her Eldest sister, Willa Beatice Snipe, (Brother) Alfred Comfort and (Son) Thomas Simmons. Joanne attended Charleston County schools and began her employment at Baker Hospital downtown on Calhoun Street and later was employed at St. Francis Hospital, where she retired in 2003 after 32 years of service. She is survived by two sisters; Annabelle Gold Fludd and Shirley Hines, Quinton Simmons (son), Micheal Simmons (son), Victorina Hampton (daughter), Mark Hampton (son), 25 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, and extended family. Joanne was joined in holy matrimony to the late Seth William Hampton in 1970 and held this union for 29 years until his passing in May of 1992. Joanne later met the love her life, Mr. James Lawson, and the two were married March 4, 2006. Joanne will always be remembered for her love for people and kind heart. She never hesitated to make a way out of no way. She would give her last just to ensure that everyone else was ok. We could not have asked for a better vessel that shared a very special part of our lives. Her Home Going Service will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, 11:00 AM at Grace Chapel, 3231 Ladson Rd., Ladson, SC. She will be laid to rest in Riverview Memorial Park. The Walk Thru will take place on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at: www.lowcountrymortuary.com. I knew Ms Joanne at Baker Hospital in N Chas. She was always so kind and very pleasant to everyone, a person I was proud to know. My sincerest condolences to her family.

I knew Joanne when we both worked at Baker/ Roper North and St. Francis Hospitals. She was a wonderful lady and dedicated employee. May she rest in God´s sweet peace and rise in glory. My love and prayers for comfort for all of you.

I remember Ms. Joann from Roper North (Old Baker). She was in the cafeteria and was the sweetest lady. Always a kind word for everyone. My deepest condolences to all of her family. I know she will be missed.
