Jimmy Lester Obituary

Jimmy T. Lester N. Charleston - PO1 Jimmy T. Lester, USN Ret., 82, of North Charleston, SC, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the Bahamas. His graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL. Jimmy was born August 8, 1935 in Franklin, GA, son of the late Roy Freeman Lester and the late Ora Swann Lester. He retired from the US Navy in 1975 and graduated Southern University. He was a member of the Hammerton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites and Twilight Twirlers Square Dance Club. He was a member of Portside Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons: Richard Lester of Raleigh, NC and David Lester of Nassau, Bahamas; sister, Ruth Lamb of Fayetteville, GA; and two grandchildren: Cody and Riley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Pauline Willoughby Lester. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Portside Baptist Church, 1179 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
