Jerome John Yakel, Jr. Daniel Island - Jerome John Yakel, Jr., 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Charlene "Cindy" Amy Neilson Yakel, died Saturday, October 28, 2017. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 13, 2017 in The Church of the Holy Cross, 299 Seven Farms Road, Daniel Island at 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon at Dunes West Country Club in Mt. Pleasant immediately following the Mass. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Jerome was born December 24, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Jerome John Yakel and the late Kathryn Dunn Yakel. He served in the United States Marines, was retired from the commercial steel industry and was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Charlene "Cindy" Yakel of Daniel Island, SC; two daughters: Stacey Yakel of Boston, MA and Melissa Yakel McClatchy (William) of San Francisco, CA; two step-children: Emily Weber (Dan) of Chicago, IL and Casey Neilson (Molly) of Charlotte, NC; four sisters: Susan Smith (Todd) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Judy Nicoletti (Bob) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Janice Yakel (Greg Wile) of Boston, MA and Joan Fishburn (Burke) of Loveland, CO; seven grandchildren: Charlotte McClatchy, John McClatchy, Ellie Weber, Lucas Weber, Joe Neilson, Annie Neilson and Sam Neilson; a niece, Morgan Smith; and two nephews: Zachary Fishburn and Nathaniel Fishburn.
