James Wannamaker Obituary

WANNAMAKER, James Bowman - James Robert J.R. Wannamaker, 86 of 2218 Ebenezer Road, Bowman died Monday July 16, 2007 in The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SC. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday July 19, 2007 in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Robbie Hall officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Reeves, William Wimberly, Watson Weathers, Jr., Shan Britt, Darren Britt and Blake Weathers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George, SC. J.R. was born on September 1, 1920 in Bowman a son of the late Henry Marvin and Elizabeth Marie Wimberly Wannamaker. He was an Army Staff Sergeant during WWII and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was the last charter member of the Bowman American Legion, member of the VFW, member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and a carpenter. He is predeceased by a brother, John Marvin Wannamaker. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Susie Britt Wannamaker; three daughters, Cindy (Al) Dragun, Columbia, Bonnie (Joe) Johnston, St. George and Robin Marie Wannamaker, Charleston; one brother, George Willis Wannamaker, Bowman; a sister, Lila Mae Moorer, Holly Hill; grandchildren, Carmen (Don) Willson, Brandy (Loren) Metts, Chad (Jennifer) Johnston and Dawn (Charlie) Weeks; and great-grandchildren, Parker and Kayla Willson, Bryce and Kelsey Metts and Colby and Caden Weeks.
