James Ruddock Obituary

James M. Ruddock SUMMERVILLE - James M. Ruddock, 95, widow of Gertrude Campsen Murray Ruddock died on Monday, December 28, 2009 at The Village At Summerville, Presbyterian Community of SC. James was born on January 6, 1914 in Sumter, SC to the late James A. Ruddock and Harriott Nelson Ruddock. He served our country in the Merchant Marines. James was a long time resident of Charleston where he was part owner of a construction co., owned and operated a motel and also was the owner and operator of a local shrimp boat, "Miss Shem Creek". James was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Sarah Stroman. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 2501 Bees Ferry Rd., Charleston, SC 29414. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00am at the Second Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery, 342 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29403. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for James Ruddock may be made to the Endowment Fund at Presbyterian Home, 2817 Ashland Dr., Columbia, SC 29210 or Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29403.
