To: Vertelle and the Middleton family, my heart is heavy to learn of the passing of your husband James.

James has always been a mentor of mine. I remember James giving me organ lessons on our old Hammond at New Jerusalem AME Church on Wadmalaw Island in the mid 60's.

Now I am following in his footsteps as the Musician for the Edisto District of the SC Conference for the AME Churches. I can hear him now, singing one of his favorite Hymns "Peace Be Still." We will miss James, but we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Now I know that you have finally joined the great musicians up in heaven.
