Hugh Eason Obituary

Hugh Kitchings Eason Mt. Pleasant - Hugh Kitchings Eason, 85, of Mount Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 28, 2016. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel. Hugh was born December 20, 1930 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Herbert C. Eason, Sr. and Ray Kitchings Eason. He was a 1947 graduate of the High School of Charleston, a 1952 graduate of the College of Charleston, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Math and Chemistry, and a 1956 graduate of Clemson College, where he earned a Master's Degree in Textile Chemistry. He retired from R.M. Engineered Products (GARCO) in 1990 after 33 years of service. Hugh was a life member of the Alumni Association of the College of Charleston, a life member of the Elks Lodge #242 Charleston, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a resident of Sullivan's Island since 1964. He is survived by ten nephews: Herbert C. Eason III, Richard Eason, Wayne R. Fanning, Buist M. Fanning III, Jack E. Fanning, Gene E. Fanning, Charles L. Fanning, David W. Eason, Jr., Donald E. Eason, and Robert H. Kittles; and six nieces: Nancy E. Jones, Barbara E. Goodman, Janice M. Fanning, Carol F. Jeter, Myra E. Jones, and Jane D. Kittles. He was preceded in death by brothers: Robert Henry Eason, Herbert C. Eason, Jr., and David West Eason; sisters: Myra Eason Fanning, and Adele Eason Kittles; and a niece, Martha L. Eason.
