Homer Blocker Obituary

BLOCKER, Homer WALTERBORO - Mr. Homer "Hugh" Blocker, husband of Lucy Bunton Blocker, died Saturday morning at his residence, 407 Maxey Street, after an extended illness. He was 77. Mr. Blocker was born in Colleton County, July 4, 1929, a son of the late Zach Blocker and Mamie Crosby Blocker Palmer. He served ten years in the Army National Guard in Walterboro, and was the founder of Blocker Construction Company. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He possessed a strong love for gardening and fishing and the outdoors. Surviving, besides his wife of 55 years are one daughter, Linda B. Bishop, and her husband Adrian, of Walterboro, and one son, Tommie H. Blocker, of Walterboro. There is a half-brother, Jack T. Palmer, of Cincinnati, OH, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
