My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Tuffy. It's been a few years since I have seen or talked to him. He was always a southern gentleman for the years that i had the privilege of knowing him. I worked at DiMare Johns Island (formerly known as Stonoca Farms). I met Tuffy and his father Mr. Henry during those years and ate quite a bit of the BBQ at their restaurant. He will be missed.

The first time I laid eyes on this beautiful person I was ten years old and picking tomatoes with Ms. Ada and my Aunt. I didn't know then that he would be my life long friend and come to my rescue many times over. Tuffy was a friend that could always be counted on.
For instance, at my place of employment he volunteered to make steaks on his PDQ barbeque for the elderly's elegant evening dinner. It turned out to be one of our best events. Another time, I was moving and he sent over two strong men and a truck to help me out. Those are just two of the many instances where Tuffy was my hero. My life has been blessed by knowing him and his family. I am going to miss him. My thought's are with his family.

Very sad to hear about Tuffy's passing...my sisters and I all worked at Rast Restaurant, I was a high school kid working there 1977-1979 or so, with Bumpsy, Tony, Lisa, and others. Rast Restaurant was a legend that never should have disappeared from Johns Island, and Tuffy/Ms. Ada/Mr. Henry created and themselves were all part of that legend. God bless, Tuffy, hopefully you're cranking up a PDQ cooker in Heaven. :-)

To know Tuffy was to know the personification of a true Southern gentleman. What I remember most is his love, graciousness and warmth; he cared about people and made you feel welcome. The world has lost a truly wonderful and unique human being and his loss will be felt by anyone who knew him. Prayers and love continually with y'all!

I am so sorry to get this news about Tuffy. My mother and I spent time with the wonderful Rast family in the summertime when I was a young girl. His parents were so welcoming. Tuffy has always been a " Low country gentleman." I hope Ada can withstand his loss as she remembers what a wonderful man he was. Love from, Barbara Burch

When cousin Debbie married Tuffy, she gifted our family with a wonderful man. He is remembered for big hugs & the smile in Tuffy's eyes conveyed genuine love & happiness when we'd see each other, regardless of how much time had past since our last meeting. It meant the world to have Tuffy & Debbie as Guests at our Engagement Party in 2008, and Clay would often speak of him & say how much he really liked Debbie & Tuffy. That's how it's always been... Debbie & Tuffy... you always found yourself saying both names at the same time as it seemed they were always together. Our family has lost an admired man, a respected man, a loved man & a cherished man. I am so sorry for the profound loss to those most close to him. Heaven has gained an Angel. But today I feel sad to know he is gone... until we meet in Heaven, Tuffy.
Love,
Diane & Clay
