Henry Finch Obituary

Well Henry it´s been 19and a half years , but I´m finally back in SC. You my friend cross my mind a lot and I still miss you a lot.

Henry and I were close friends! Played Basketball at Flora and WCU ! I actually helped recruit him ! Sorry so late but wasn't aware of this ! Wonderful man and great athlete! So sorry !

After all these years I still think of Henry J. He was a great friend to me and my daughter. Miss you my friend.

Jan and I were sorry to hear about Henry J. I have wonderful memories working with all of the Finch's (including David S.) while building the infrastructure at Wild Dunes. They all were a great group to work with and we all had some good times together. Henry J will be missed.

To the family of Henry Finch,

I only came to know Henry during there last three months as I am one of his tenants. He struck as being a compassionate man who held high standards to being friendly and helpful to others. I am saddened by his passing. My thoughts and condolences are with the family and all the many people that Henry helped through out his life.

Ed and I grieve with Nancy, Frances and the entire Finch family over the sudden loss of Henry J. He was like a brother to Ed during the ten years he worked for the Finch family and we are grateful for having been a part of the original Beach and Racquet Club/Wild Dunes family all those years.
My family had a longstanding relationship with the Finches as my mother and dad from Columbia were also Henry and Frances. We cherished our friendship and the welcoming reception they gave us when Ed went to work for the resort. Henry J had a heart for all and will be missed by many.
Our love to you all during this sad time.

I was stunned to hear of Henry's passing,he was paying his condolences to my family just three months ago for my husband who passed after a long illness. Henry and he were close business friends for decades. They had a genuine respect for one another. Henry's faith in the Lord was demonstrated by his kindness and generosity. My prayers for the Finch family.

I'm so sorry in hearing about Henry's passing. He was just in my office the other day. He was a very good friend.

I have so many fond memories of those early days working and living at Isle Of Palms Beach and Racquet Club with my mother, Shirley Dixon, and my girls, Nicole and Margaret. As the resort grew and changed it's name to Wild Dunes, we early residence had such fun. It was a great place to raise a child. Me and my girls will never forget those times of which Henry "J" played a large role.

Oh my such a stroll down memory lane. Where has the time gone!!!!

Nancy and all of the Finch family, I was surprised to hear of Henry's death. My brother-in-law, Tom Horton, lives in Mt. Pleasant and keeps me up to date on folks I knew when I lived there. I worked for Henry many years ago as Tradewinds Hostess. He was a fair and fun boss. I have fond memories of all of you. Nancy J, Justin, Liz, and dear cousins and cousins-in-law,

From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our deepest sympathy for the sudden passing of Henry J. He was my oldest male cousin, and I have great memories of family times with him and all of y'all at the Beach House on Sullivan's Island, and many Thanksgivings together at Butterfield. Henry J was a gentle giant patriarch, who cared greatly for and loved you all, and as of late cared very specially for his mother and sister Nancy. We will all miss him greatly, and know he is now up there in heaven, watching over us with his Dad, my Dad, and Raymon Jr., surely well into a conversation on politics, real estate or the economy by now. We look forward to seeing you all at the visitation.

Nancy & children, my thoughts & prayers are with your family. My 50 years of friendship with Henry enriched my life as Henry did make a big difference in my life many times just by being my friend. Since his passing I'v slept very little, rather I've thought of the special times spent with Henry. He will be truly missed as a great friend. Our hearts are grieving, and prayers are extended to everyone in the Finch family. Our sorrow and condolences are beyond words. It is never easy to say goodbye to those we love, especially when the loss is unexpected. Henry J truly was a gentle giant with a huge heart. I will forever see him, in my mind's eye, at The Calypso Bar at Litchfield Inn, in his Hawaiian shirt, enchanting everyone with great stories. Captain Cocktail was loved by many and will be greatly missed. You are all in our prayers, and we will see you on Friday.

I was 13 years old when Henry loaned me his Suzuki 90 motorcycle, which I promptly wrecked and spent two weeks in the hospital. The wreck bent the frame of the motorcycle. Henry put it between two trees and with a rope and a car, he pulled the frame back straight and continued to ride it. He was never angry at me for wrecking his bike but was just glad I survived. He was a great guy. He will be missed. I am so glad that I was able to see him at the Flora reunions. Many pleasant memories (except for the hospital part) Rest in peace Henry.
