Helen Crawford Obituary

Helen Brownlee Degner Crawford GAFFNEY, SC - Helen Brownlee Degner Crawford, of 266 Peachoid Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Peachtree Centre. Born in Laurens, she was first married to the late William Maurice Degner and then to the late Robert Edward Crawford. She was the daughter of the late James Robert Brownlee and Lee Nora Bobo Brownlee and was the stepdaughter of the late Sally Sanders Brownlee. Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and Young at Heart. She possessed many talents, never met a stranger and was loved by all. Surviving is a son, William M. Degner and wife, Lisa of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a daughter, Sherry Crawford Bowers and husband, John of Charlotte, NC; a daughter-in-law, Mary Degner Fuller and husband, Keith of Fair Bluff, NC; thirteen grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James Brownlee Degner, a step-son, Ronald Allen Crawford, three sisters, Elva Monaree Brownlee, Agnes Launice Brownlee and Nora Reanze Brownlee, two brothers, James Robert Brownlee, Jr. and Edyeth LaClair Brownlee and a step-sister, Kat Taylor. Special thanks to Dr. George Bass for his care and concern over the many years. Also, special thanks to nurses and staff of Peachtree Centre Rehabilitation. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Cromer officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340, or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342.
