Gerald was my dear friend and neighbor growing up in Elizabethtown. Always smiling, always happy. We really connected on a sports level, following teams, going to games, playing golf and basketball. We maintained a great friendship throughout life with occasional visits in Charlotte, Raleigh, Seabrook Island. He was so generous with his time and resources. I am so glad that he was able to travel until the last few months. My friend will be dearly missed. My love to Martha also.

We will always remember Gerald's dedication to Martha and the fun times we had with them. He was a true a gentleman dedicated to doing things for friends, his alma mater and organizations that improved society. He will be missed by many but left positive memories with everyone that knew him.

Gerald was a terrific classmate at The Citadel, Class of '71. He also spent the rest of his life giving back to the school that helped him be so successful in life.
A great man who will be missed. Our prayers to his family.

Gerald was such a friend and advisor to our family, and especially to myself over the years. A true Citadel, man who gave his all to his friends, his colleagues, his alma mater, and especially to his dear wife, Martha. You will be missed, but not forgotten. Go dogs.
