George Sadler Obituary

SADLER, George In Heaven with his Savior and Lord, the Rev. George E. Sadler entered eternity at East Cooper Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. He was born in Ridgefield Park, N.J. on December 27, 1920 to Gertrude Veh Sadler and David W. Sadler. He is survived by Dorothy M. Sadler, his wife and help-mate of 64 years. Also surviving are his daughters Barbara Jane Long of Dover, PA. and Bette Rials of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. His grandchildren are Faith Long, Jennifer Sutler, Adrienne Crone, Andrew Long, John Rials and Paul Rials. He has eight great grandchildren: Will and Lucy Sutler, Brady and Kaden Crone, Kolby Long, Lauryn-Hiatt Rials, Trevor and Luke Rials. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only sister, Jane Atema, his grandson, George David and great grandson David Rials. Rev. Sadler graduated from Bloomfield College, N.J. and attended Princeton Seminary two years then finishing his PhD at N.Y. Biblical Seminary. He received his Masters in Theology from Northeastern Bible Institute in N.J. where he also was a teacher of Bible and Religions of the world. Rev. Sadler served as pastor in the following churches: Woodside Baptist, N.Y.C., Dunwoodie Baptist Church of Yonkers, N.Y., Flushing First Baptist, Queens, N.Y., University Baptist, Boca Raton, Florida and First Baptist Church of Merrick, L.I., N.Y. Upon retiring from full-time pastorate, he continued to serve the local church through his ministry of singing and playing the trumpet as well as pulpit supply. He was a devoted student of the Bible and taught many believers how to grow in their walk with the Lord through Bible study. A memorial service of praise will be held at a future date. The family will receive friends at the Rials' home (538 Antebellum Lane) on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. for the comfort and ease for Mrs. Sadler who has Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Gideon's International, 2900 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37214 or the Alzheimer's Association (Palmetto Chapter), 2090 Executive Hall Road, Suite 130, Charleston, SC 29407. We praise God for the life of George Sadler on earth as he faithfully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. We take comfort in the hope of eternal life with the resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ who purchased our pardon from sin with His precious blood. To God be all honor, praise and glory. We were saddened to learn of Rev. Sadler's passing but rejoice in the knowledge that he is with his Lord and Savior. It was our privilage to know him and lift you all up in our prayers.
