Frances Dabney Obituary

Frances G. Dabney SPARTANBURG, SC - Mrs. Frances G. Dabney, 92, widow of the late Reverend Fred Edgar Dabney, went home to be with the Lord and family on Monday, November 21, 2011 in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Born October 7, 1919 in Kershaw, she was a daughter of the late Croxton Gardner and the late Lola Mackey Gardner. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness to the Lord. Mrs. Dabney was a devoted member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg for over 40 years, teaching the Rebeccah Class for many of those years and being the first female to hold the position of Deacon, and being a diligent prayer warrior and selfless servant. She taught in the South Carolina School System for over 30 years in both the upstate and Charleston area schools. Her wealth of information extended beyond the classroom and she was the family historian for both the Dabney and Gardner families. Survivors include her daughter, Marie Best and her husband Bubba of Lexington; sons, Eric Dabney and his wife Gina of New Market, TN, and Inho Yoon and his wife Sook of Greenville; grandchildren, Michele Sheppard (Byron), Marci Miller (Todd), Faith Jelley (Adrian), Tim Dabney (Jennifer), Kelly Yoon, and Burrell Best (Julie); great-grandchildren, Taylor, Sydney, and Rachael Miller, Drayton Sheppard, Lexi and Zane Douglas, and Olivia, Elice, and Brycen Best; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Susann Dabney; very dear friends, Joyce Belcher, Pam Watts, and Peggy Thomas; and a host of church family that she dearly loved. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at the graveside, in Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Charlie Simmons officiating. There will also be a memorial service on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 in memory of Mrs. Dabney. Mrs. Dabney was one of my high school teachers at S.H.S. I Loved her. She was such a sweet, kind lady. I look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.
