Ford Justice Grigg, 87, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
A native of Cleveland County, North Carolina, Ford was the son of the late Nollie Justice Grigg and Irene Ford Grigg.
Ford retired from the U.S. Army Signal Corp after twelve years of service. Following his military career, he worked for the Federal Government and moved overseas to work and live in England, where he met his wife, Violet. There, he built a life full of family and friends that were family.
He found great happiness traveling and camping throughout the UK and Scotland with family and friends. He also enjoyed car racing including his own Porsche 911 and volunteering at the British Grand Prix.
Ford was an avid photographer. He left behind thousands of photos that tell the story of a life well-lived and a man well-loved. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kindness, and his ability to make others feel welcome on every journey, near or far.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriette Grigg and Joyce Whisnant, and his brother-in-law, Charles Whisnant.
He is survived by his wife, Vi; his sons, James Grigg and wife Keenan, and Jody Grigg and wife Anita; his granddaughter, Maddie; and his beloved canine companions, Henry and Fred.
A celebration of Ford's life will be held on January 22, 2026 in Shelby, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Ford to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC 29412.
