Felicia Morrison Obituary

Felicia Weston Howell Morrison CHARLESON - Felicia Weston Howell Morrison of Charleston, wife of the late William McG. "Bo" Morrison died on January 3rd. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday at St. Philip's Church. The family will see visitors on Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hagood Morrison at 60 Barre Street. Felicia is survived by four children, Howell Morrison (Erwin), Hagood Morrison (Mary), Dr. Edward Morrison (Sarah), and Felicia M. Huger (Billy) together with thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her first son William McG. Morrison, III, died in infancy. Felicia was born in 1929 at Fort Eustis, Virginia, the daughter of Brig. General George Pierce Howell and Felicia North Chisolm of Columbia. Like her father, both of her grandfathers and her maternal great-grandfather were West Point graduates and career Army officers. As a young girl, her father was stationed in the Philippines and in China for several years prior to the United States' entry into World War II. Felicia and her sister "Pixie" went to school by mule-drawn wagon, drank goat's milk, came upon two shrunken heads on poles while on a picnic, and shared many other memories of their time in the Far East. After the war broke out the family lived in Fort Lewis, Washington, and later in Fort Benning, Georgia, where her father served as commandant of the Parachute School. Felicia and Bo lived an active and happy life together in Charleston for more than sixty-five years, the last twenty of which were spent in Cashiers, North Carolina, in the summers. Felicia lived life on her own terms, taught many neighborhood boys how to toe the line, and was fiercely loyal to Bo and her children, her friends, and her many dogs. She was a co-founder and proprietor of The Boutique, a member of the Colonial Dames, served on the board of the Huguenot Society, and was a founding member of the Carolina Assembly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Philip's Church or the Charleston Animal Society. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston
