Euphemia Mervine Obituary

MERVINE, Euphemia Euphemia Mary "Effie" Mervine, 62, of Summerville, wife of Daniel James Mervine died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Trident Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at 2 o'clock at James A. Dyal Oakbrook Chapel, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mrs. Mervine was born January 4, 1944, in Glasgow, Scotland, a daughter of the late Fergus Barr and Mary Ramege Barr. She graduated from high school and later attended Trident Technical College. She worked as an electronics assembler at Tracor. Mrs. Mervine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was an avid reader. She was Presbyterian. Surviving in addition to her husband are: five sons, Ralph Torrance of Ladson, SC, Alex Torrance of Glasgow, Scotland, Pete Mervine of Summerville, SC, Daniel Lewis Mervine and William Mervine, both of Suffolk, Virginia; four daughters, Barbara Belot of North Carolina, Patricia Sharbor and Teresa Kudsk, both of Suffolk, Va., and Laura Altizer of Egypt, two brothers, William Barr and Andrew Barr, both of Scotland, and one sister, Christine Hope of Scotland, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
