Eugene Quimby Obituary

Eugene Noel Quimby, Sr. N. CHARLESTON - Eugene Noel Quimby, Sr., 88, of North Charleston passed away at home on January 12, 2016, with his loving wife of 66 years by his side. A Memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1521 Mosstree Road, North Charleston, SC. There will be tie-in arrangements for all those unable to attend in person. Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services are handling local arrangements. He will be interred at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland, Maine. Eugene was born on December 10, 1927, in Westbrook, Maine, to the late Harold and Velva Quimby (Austin). He was a mechanical engineer designing aircraft parts for Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, as well as a long career with General Electric. He obtained a patent for his design of a part that increased the efficiency of GE washing machines. He was also known as the "Pen Man" as he always had interesting or decorative ink pens to hand out to all he met. Eugene was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1941, and has over 75 years of faithful service. He is survived by his wife, Manola Abbie Quimby (Dobson); four children: Pamela and Steve Leighton, Robin and Gary Levesque, Eugene "Butch" and Sheila Quimby (Twitchell), Bruce and Lisa Quimby (Becker); and nine grandchildren: Symeon, Phillip, Jamin, Eugenia, Tanya, Jabrae, Saffron, Jeshua, and Hannah.
