Ernest Bradwell Wingard Charleston - Ernest Bradwell Wingard, 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Reid Wingard, died Friday, May 4, 2018. His memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018, in Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Ernest was born June 23, 1922, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of the late Robert Ernest Wingard and Ada Way Wingard. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and attended Murray Vocational Night School. He graduated from the Shipyard Apprenticeship School. He worked at Southern Ice Company, Claussen's Bakery and the Charleston Naval Shipyard and Supply Center. Ernest was a member of Demolay and a volunteer with Roper Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Reid Wingard; three sons, Ernest Bradwell Wingard Jr. (Paulette) of Yonges Island, SC, John R. Wingard (Fran) of Gainesville, FL, David B. Wingard (Cacilda) of Greenville, SC; daughter, Lin W. Cook, of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Douglas.
