Emily Eleanor Rochelle
Mount Pleasant - Emily Eleanor Rochelle, 78, of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 16, 2026, from complications of dementia. Emily was born in Newport, Rhode Island, on January 9, 1948, to Paul Edwards Rochelle and Eleanor Dudley Langston Rochelle. She moved to North Charleston, SC as a child and graduated from North Charleston High School in 1966.
Emily was a strong woman who overcame the challenges of a car crash at age 22 that left her paraplegic. She enjoyed cooking, reading a good book, long chats on the phone, a tasty BBQ basket, and shopping. She was a charming and snazzy lady with a quirky, silly sense of humor and a loyal friend.
Emily was predeceased by her mother and father. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Gonzaga (Allen) of Mount Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Nicholai, Jamie, and Samantha; her sister, Paula Brumage of Virginia Beach, VA; and two nieces. A loving mention is made of her lifelong best friend, Maxine Dasinger, and her family, who were always there for her.
Services for Emily will be private. Emily would say it would be very groovy of you to eat some ice cream and a box of chocolates in remembrance of her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice.
