Ellen Epps Obituary

Ellen Marcia Epps WALTERBORO - With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ellen Marcia Epps on May 19, 2024. Growing up in Mount Pleasant, her family grew from father and mother, Bill and Doris Epps, to sister, Stacy Epps Byrd and brother, Scott (Nina) Epps. Then, on to many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers from other mothers, and all of their children. A career in the international cargo shipping industry spanned decades with work at both Maersk A/S and Mediterranean Shipping and each offered many opportunities to travel. Work took her from Charleston to live in Atlanta and Charlotte, but Mount Pleasant was always home. And a cruise with family and friends was always her favorite way to travel - preferably to Hawaii! Ellen's love for family and friends, unending kindness, generosity, humor, and strength will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. If you were a friend of Ellen's for one minute, you were family for life. Dear Ellen, you were always loved and will forever be missed. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Ellen's birthday is the 15th. I remember when sh,Kathy Krell and I were at Midlands Tech. Ellen's Dad and Mother invited a bunch of us to their home for the weekend. We all went to the beach and ate wonderful seafood at her Dad's restauranr,The Sand Bar. Ellen loved the beach and she was very laid back making sure we all had fun. She was a great person. And she loved her family and friends.

Ellen and I were school mates at Midland Tec back when we had long hair and wore blue jeans. She,Kathy Krell and I were a threescore and went everywhere together.
I continued to know Ellen after school for all of these years and felt blessed to feel that I was like family.
My heart goes out to Stacy. She was alone with Ellen that faithful night and did all she could to save her b we loved sister. Stacy, you must not question but have faith and just believe that until we are all with Ellen again, you will live the happy life she would want for you.
All of the family and other friends are in my prayers. I love you all.

I am still in shock and speechless over the loss of Ellen. She was more than a best friend she was a sister since Wezi introduced us at 15. She was a great travel partner. I cannot put into words this loss. You were so loved by all of your friends. I will miss you everyday!

Ellen was a long time, true friend along with Stacey who welcomed my family to Mt Pleasant almost 60 years ago! She was a jewel to know and when she loved you, she never had to tell you, you knew it. Her expressions were priceless! Kito and I are going to miss our lunches with you but you will always remain in our memories and our hearts forever with much love.

Ellen was more than a cousin, she was my Sister. We were blessed to have been raised together by our parents making sure we stayed very close. The love shared by Ellen was more than words can say. She always wanted to be there in both the good times and the bad. If I ever asked her to take control of anything, she never questioned it, she just made sure it happened. She has been such an important part of my life since the day I was born. I thank God for the blessing of having her so close in my life. She never ended a phone call or a visit without saying, "I love you." She will be with me all the days of my life. I love you Ellen.

I simply cannot express all the times in my life that Ellen made me laugh and supported me and love me unconditionally! Her love and compassion and care for me, and everyone else that was graced with her love will be severely missed!
I have loved her, my entire life!
Her memory will always be for a blessing, and I will never forget her! She will live forever in my heart...

I'm so sorry to learn of Ellen's passing. She was a legend in the Charleston waterfront community and knew how to get things done, and always with a smile. Heaven has gained a great logistics manager.
