Elke Marie Walton N. CHARLESTON - Elke Marie Walton, 50, of North Charleston, passed away on August 25, 2016, at her home surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held at Charleston Cremation Center & Funeral Home, 2054 Wambaw Creek Rd., Charleston, at 3:00 o'clock Saturday, August 27. Family and friends will be received at the family home after the service. Interment will be private. Elke was born Oct. 9, 1965, in Charleston, S.C. She was the daughter of Ida Yates Draper of North Charleston, the late Ralph E. Draper, Jr., and the late Michael R. Walton. A graduate of Waterson College, Elke earned her paralegal degree and worked in the Charleston area. She was a member of the Remount Road Baptist Church. Her hobbies included flower arranging, crafting, and enjoying the beach, especially Isle of Palms, where she found peace and solace. Her favorite pastime was caring for her granddaughter, Carmen. She is survived by her son, Charles Edward McGowan, Jr., of Moncks Corner; her granddaughter, Carmen Jade McGowan, also of Moncks Corner; her partner, Tim Anderson of East Palatka, FL; a brother, Ralph Edward Draper III (Alicia) of Summerville; sisters, Tara M. Walton of North Charleston, Kim Draper Samenko (Alan Coker) of Hanahan, and Christine Walton of Fayetteville, NC; her nieces and nephew, Skylar and Jocelyn Samenko, Gabriel and Katelyn Draper, and Amelia and Madeleine Walden; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
