Edward Jessen Obituary

Edward Marshall Jessen, Jr. HUGER, SC - Edward "Ed" Marshall Jessen, Jr., of Huger, S.C., 76, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 15, 2024, with his loving family at his side. His funeral service will be held Friday, August 23rd at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew's, Mt. Pleasant at 440 Whilden St., Mt. Pleasant. A reception will follow in the parish hall, and the burial will be private. Ed was born October 13, 1947 in Charleston to the late Edward Marshall Jessen, Sr., and the late Florence Aichele Jessen. In 1990, Ed married Susan West Jessen and celebrated 34 years of marriage. A graduate of Summerville High School and Auburn University, Ed was a mechanical engineer and was owner of Carolina Engineering and Conveyor. He and Susan have been devoted members of Christ Church Anglican. His Men's Bible study group was among his favorite fellowships, and he always worked diligently to help the church in any capacity. His passion was his "little piece of Heaven" in Huger, where he lived and kept his faithful horses and chickens, tended his garden, and enjoyed coffee on the porch. His knowledge of many things was unmatched, and his willingness to help was natural. In addition to his beloved wife, Susan West Jessen, Ed is survived by his son, Frederick Marshall Jessen (Marea Camie) of McClellanville, his daughters, Caroline Jessen Karditzas (William) of Crownsville, MD, Stacy Geulieme Jessen, and Janie Helen Jessen, both of Huger. He was a cherished grandfather (Graddy/Grandaddy) to his four grandchildren: Rigel Jessen, Aiden Jessen, Zoey Vea, and Mary-Jean Jessen. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly "Bali" Jessen Cuthbert, Dorothy "Dottie" Jessen Connelly (Bubba), and Rebecca "Becky" Jessen Koch of Summerville, his in-laws, Meredith West Yates, Allan West (Susan), Gene West (Linda), and Roger Wilson, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers-in-law, Tommy Cuthbert, Bob Koch, and David Yates, and his sister-in-law, Gwendolyn West Wilson. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Roper-St. Francis and especially Jess Cuthbert, nephew and owner of Wren Hospice, for the love and support throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Anglican, 3022 S. Morgans Point Rd. #274, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466.
