Edmund Elder Obituary

Edmund J. Elder SUMMERVILLE - Edmund J. Elder, 84, of Summerville, husband of the late Josephine "Josey" T. Elder, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Low Country Community Hospice House. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mepkin Abbey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mepkin Abbey, 1098 Mepkin Abbey Rd., Moncks Corner, SC 29461 or Edmund and Josephine Elder Trustee Scholarship at Penn State, 2583 Gateway Drive, Bristol Place One, Suite 200 State College, Pennsylvania 16801. Ed was born on October 6, 1936 in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania to the late Clyde and Louise Buchta Elder. His passions included volunteering at Trident Medical Center, mentoring with Junior Achievement, and serving as a Lector and Extraordinary Minister at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Ed enjoyed reading, cooking, watching sports, and following the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include: three children: Edmund Elder, Jr. (Susan) of Madison, WI, Lou Ann Liebman (Michael) of Denver, CO, and Erika Elder; four grandchildren: Megan Liebman, Mary Jo Elder, Lauren Liebman, and Eddie Elder, III; many nieces and nephews.
